Climate Change: Causes and Effects
People have been hearing the words “climate change” like clichés from old movies, but no one is really aware how deadly those two words can be. Those two words may take lives of millions of people and starve a whole nation. Take for example typhoon Ondoy’s devastation in our country, people drowned, and an entire nation went under state of calamity. Indeed the effects of climate change chooses no one, be it rich or poor, educated or not, sickly or healthy, no one.
Climate change is caused by many factors such as plate tectonics, solar outputs, orbital variations, volcanism, ocean variability and of course, us, human beings. The plate tectonics affect climate change because whenever the plates move the ocean circulation changes. These ocean circulations are important in controlling heat transfer and moisture across the globe and in determining global climate. If the location of the oceans changes then, elements such as heat and moisture also change, resulting to climate change.
Another cause of climate change is the solar output. The sun provides us heat and the sun’s heat is very important in cloud formations and different weather conditions. As the ozone layer thins out, the sun’s radiation and heat increases affecting different elemental cycles we have today such as cloud formations and rains. The hotter the sun, the more evaporation, the more rain we get. As the sun changes its output, the more imbalanced our cycles are. These solar outputs also affect ocean variability.
The next one has great relation with the solar output which is the orbital variation of the earth. Whenever the earth changes its orbit even in the slightest manner, the amount of sun we get also changes, leading to problems regarding the sun’s output. On the other hand, volcanic processes like volcanic eruptions, hot springs and geysers also cause climate change. Whenever volcanoes erupt the temperature cools due to the blocking of the solar radiation of the sun.
Lastly, us, humans greatly contribute in causing climate change. We do irrigation and other activities such as inventing gadgets and formulas thinning the ozone layer. Climate change may be cause by natural calamities and happenings but, the only thing we can do now is to prevent it from happening and not contribute to the hasting of climate change.

The Implications of the Bilibid Exposure Trip to the course: Communication Arts.
The trip to Bilibid negated how the media defined the term inmate. Usually, the media would describe inmates/prisoners as big hairy tattooed people with nasty attitudes. However, this trip proved those stereotyping all wrong. In fact, how the media portrayed Bilibid prisoners as beastly was contrasted with what I saw. They, compared to the people I see everyday are more human. Unlike what I’ve seen in movies, these prisoners are as good as the people who work at churches, they value their religion, their families, their friends and their education. As a Communication Arts major, I now see how the media has deceived people, and how it was able to ruin names who in fact has sins lesser than ours, how they branded these criminals as criminals forever. The media has associated the word sinner to these criminals, but in reality all of us are sinners and some have probably sinned greater than them. Some are even innocent but have sacrificed their freedom for the ones they loved and valued. The media has used them in some ways to cover up what we, people on the outside has done. It’s like saying “until you’re not convicted, you’re good” which is not true. Seeing reality inside a prison has changed my view of what the world should be. Through my eyes and through the lens, the script, the pen and the paper I’m holding I will do my obligation to make people see what actually is happening and what and who these prisoners really are.

Eyeglasses and Nerds
Note before reading: This is a paperwork for our English subject. ^_^ Information here are all fabricated. Enjoy reading my work of nonsense. XD By the way, I wrote this... all is my invention... no copying from the internet.. (maybe that's why is sucks...) oh well hihi
Eyeglasses have evolved its image and have expanded its influence not only to nerds but to fashion-conscious people as well. A pair of eyeglasses equals to nerd was the formula before. However as time changes and taste preferences grow wider, even ladies and men who don’t have eye problems buy and wear these eyeglasses. In fact, a number of teenagers buy eyeglasses with transition lenses. These lenses automatically get tinted when exposed under the sun and looks good with outfits at the same time. In addition to these developed lenses, many variations and hip styles of frames are also sold in optical stores. A great majority sells these designed frames more than the usual round black frames because of the overwhelming response from the market. The increased number of these fashionable developments have influenced the perception on eyeglass-wearing people. Now, not all nerds wear eyeglasses and not all people who wear eyeglasses are nerds. The society has accepted these changes unconsciously since the stereotyping of nerds have died slowly. Decades of stereotyping eyeglasses and nerds have finally toned down. In fact, majority of celebrities have eyeglasses kept in their closets. Whether it is for a fashion statement or for reading, these fashion icons and entertainment stars have it too. Moreover, a book written by a student from the media studies department entitled ‘Eyeglasses and Nerds” surveyed teenagers regarding their perception on boyfriends/girlfriends wearing eyeglasses. 50% of these teenagers do not care whether their partners wear eyeglasses or not, 25% said they prefer their partners with eyeglasses while another 25% of them preferred their partners not wearing eyeglasses. From this we can see how the society has reduced their negative perception on eyeglass-wearing people. Another survey was conducted at the University of Sto. Tomas where 300 Communication Arts students were asked regarding their impression on eyeglass-wearing people. 10% of the population thinks that majority of eyeglass-wearing people are nerds while 90% of the pool thought they are cool. The last survey took place at the Faculty of Arts and letters’ teachers’ room where 80 teachers volunteered as participants. This time the participants were asked if most of their students who wear eyeglasses perform well in class or not. 79% observed that majority of their students who wear eyeglasses were not nerds and did not necessarily have excellent grades while 21% felt that majority of their eyeglass-wearing students perform very well in class. From the results of the survey, it is already evident that the wide-spread use of eyeglasses had been tolerated, accepted and given huge acknowledgements. Some people would even buy eyeglasses without grades just to fit their attire or get in with the crowd. Though eyeglasses are still associated with nerds even in mass media, most are already aware of eyeglasses used as fashion trends. Eyeglasses and Nerds is also nominated as the best eye-opener book of the Granny Book Awards 2009. Its nomination has proved its credibility and effectiveness. Crounched backbone, crossed feet
both hands masking the shameful face
Mistaken the past from the present
Hiding the pain and the crescent.
All left were marks of yesterday
With no resemblance if what is today.
Twitching limbs, Cracking knees
both feet crutching to fit left space
Walking slowly so no one would see
The ugly shadow taller than me
Inhaled grudge, exhaled hate
Is this all there is to fate?
Chest aching, hair falling
body seems to shrink, unending
The corners of space bled me
The soft cardboard seem to burn calmly
My own shadow slowly eating me
Now, the tape is sealed,
Am no longer killed.

English: A beaded Necklace
30 to 50 years from today, the English language would look like a beaded necklace tied around a girl’s neck.
Looking at a beaded necklace, we can observe different colors and designs of beads tied to a string. The beads form a pattern so that the difference of each bead can match the other bead making the said accessory more pleasing to the eyes. This idea also goes thru with the English language. The color of the beads represents the variations that we use in English. This statement can be observed visibly in our real life. For example, when a British Harvard student says “Park the car in the Harvard yard.” as “Pak the ca in the Hava yad.” the semantic and syntactic aspect is still the same, however only its Suprasegmentals and Segmentals changed. From here we can see that only the color changes but not its being or to put if more specific, the pronunciation changes but not its meaning.
On the other hand, the design of the beads refers to the different elements affecting the English language, paving way to different variations. One of these elements is the technological advancements we have today. Most of the technological advanced countries and main producers of high-tech gadgets are countries from the expanding circle like China and Japan. If Japan were to make a name for a league of super hero robots, surely the Americans would borrow the said word since the Japanese are the ones dominating the robot-making world. Another element would be the economic status of the globe. Our world now is a battlefield where the person who makes the most money is the most powerful man alive. Even a penny these days can cause petty catfights among poverty areas. For instance, an American Salesman wants to sell a second hand car to a British customer, who pronounces the word car as “ca”, surely the salesman would just sell the “ca” and even imitate the pronunciation of the British customer just to sell the old car. No one would bother to complain or make correction when money is at stake. Thus, people learn to adjust their way of speaking just to have financial security.
The last and most influential element is Culture. Every country has its own culture and every culture varies from another culture. Culture as our way of life includes the food we eat, our language, our beliefs, our history and our traditions. Sake, sushi and pinakbet are only some of the foods around our globe that doesn’t have a direct English translation yet. Because of this, the English standardized dictionary was forced to adapt the actual name of the dishes, giving birth to new English vocabulary. There are also many actions that are molded by our culture, one of which is the hara-kiri, a form of honorable suicide of the Japanese. These are actions according to our culture’s belief; translating these words may slightly change its original meaning.
If the beads refer to the variations we have in English, the string represents the mutually intelligible aspect of English variations. One example of this is the British English, even though they don’t pronounce the letter R and put emphasis on their H sounds, we understand them. The Harry Potter Craze is one good proof that different races do understand the British English. Just like mutual intelligibility, the string connects all the beads of different colors and designs into one understandable design. It serves as the backbone of our understanding and interpretation of the English language.
The future of the English language is a pool of chaos and unity, it lives in a world, where colors combine yet contrast each other, where strings are firm but sometimes breakable and where there’s a never-ending cycle of change.

English is Chop Suey
30-50 years from now the English language will most probably be similar to the dish chopsuey.
Why? Because just like Chop Suey, the English language already has many variations, has ingredients that are different from each other yet delicious when mixed together. And just by tasting a spoonful of it, we would know that it is Chop Suey even if it loses a carrot.
Just like the British English, they erase the R's from their tongues, yet we understand it. We pronounce Tortoise as tortoise yet we hear no complaining sound.
And if by instance, an American pet shop owner, wants to sell a tortoise to a Filipino customer who pronounces the said pet as tortoise, surely, the seller won't utter a word and would just go with the flow, since selling it is the main priority. From here we can see how people adjust when it comes to personal survival. The pet shop owner would rather be ignorant than to lose a customer, who cares of standards when your business is at stake?
In Chop Suey we add pork to add flavor even though it is not a vegetable. Just like code mixing, there are over 30 different versions of code-mixing with English one of which is our very own Taglish. Different countries combine English with their own language because of their culture that can’t be expressed fully in English. Hence, new vocabulary is born, such as pinakbet, sinigang, sake and many more.
English has entered a mosh pit, where culture and economy merge yet fight each other, where language can never really be standard, and where change is always constant.

Death Bell
Seized by the dark gloves of Hell,
Sitting, Waiting for my ringing death bell.
Slightly dripping a puddle of well,
Time can't give a damn of a heart so swell.
What I waited for came, only once.
The anticipation slowly turning to rust.
Nothing was left, no blood, no dust,
Burning the pain, the heart, the crust.

An apathetic image that left a sting,
Darkness devouring all my heart can bring,
The end has come, the voice can no longer sing.

Gopets Adventure
I've been playing gopets for a year now but my accout is 2 years... My friend daph introduced this game to me. At first, our internet was kinda slow so my computer can't run the game. I was too frustrated to even try and decided to ignore the game. But when we upgraded our internet connnection, I decided to try the game again. And as expected, I loved it! I never thought that gopets would be as great as it is now. Though there are many things about it that people complain about, still gopets is a game for all ages, it doesn't matter if you are old or young. Y Speech Finalist... Awoohh!!! aheheh (from multiply)
It was just then when I was actually on that same stage at the gym and now it's about to happen again. What I'm afraid of this time is for the exact mistake to happen again. I might stand there frozen in the middle of time because of fear. Maybe I'm confident in the eyes of my classmates but a classroom and a gym is totally different. Though I've performed acting and singing there, still my weakness of eye contact and a tons of convincing tone just wouldn't come out. I really wanted to get in just like before but up until now I don't know what's next for the girl who screwed up the first time... Aja!!!! Fight fight!!!! ahehehe...

Pessimist? Not Anymore! (updated)
I've been thinking of my atiitude towards things lately... Masyado na ko nagiging negative lahat nalang ng bagay na maganda nahahanapan ko ng pangit... sumasama na ugali ko... I should be thankful with what I have... Kaya simula ngayon I'll try to shut myself and think of the good things... so I made a list of my blessing to thank God and the people around me na naniwala kahit ganito ugali ko... thanks...
Things I'm thankful for:
1. Naging president ako ng choir.
2. Naging filipino section editor ako ng scribe.
3. Nakasali ako ng prisaap.
4. Nakaattend ako ng journalism fellowship.
5. Nakapasok ako ng singing idol hanggang finals.
6. Naging top 9 ako nung first grading.
7. Natuto ako maguitara.
8. Natuto ako sumulat at kumanta.
9. Naging lapel ulit ako this year nung foundation day.
10. Lahat ng napanaluan ko kahit recycling contest pa yan... hahahaha..
11. Mayroon akong friends na naging totoo sakin at hindi ako iniwan kahit bangag ako.
12. Meron akong family na supportive sa kahit anung gawin ko.
13. Pumasa ako ng chem. (haha)
14. I was praised by my teachers kahit konti lang.
15. Sa dami ng sakit ko buhay pa rin ako. :p
16. Meron akong clef chin asset ngaraw yan sabi ng iba. (kahit inaasar ako) :p
17.Meron akong dimples.
18. I'm petite. hahahaha...
19. I got in the finals of Y speech!!!! Awoohh!!!
20. Nakabili ako ng bagong folders sa choir... ahehehehe... (babaw)
Sorry sa lahat ng nabother ko sa lahat ng kapraningan ko... hehehee... peace ya'll... anu kaya un? hehehehe... Ewan ko ba kung anu sumanib sakin ngaung araw.... adik! bwahahahahahha!!!!

PCHS Singing idol
Surprisingly, I got in the final 5 to perform at the gym. I'm really happy but still there's a part of me that can't let out that energy... I just domn't feel deserving enough because actually at that time I never expected it. I was one of the worst performers that night (my opinion only) and beside the fact that may singing partner sang my solo part, I was really frustrated about that and started crying. I really didn't want to cry but still I was too nervous and I felt cheated in a way though I know it was not her intention. I was over acting and I know it but I can't help it.
At first when our notes were lost, I was still enjoying it though there's a possibility of not getting in, I was still fine. But when she sang my solo I just stood there frozen, staring at her and signaling for her to stop. But as expected nothing changed. I was too down to even look at the audience. I only stood there staring at the floor and tried to calm myself down. It's as if, if I was given a chance to ran off and cry outside I would've. But it pulled me deep down to hear my name knowing that the other singers did better. I was not even close to good. I'm not questioning anybody but at that time I thought of my friends who really spent their time practicing while I did not do so much.
Now, all I can do is to pray that I don't do the same mistake as I did last time and that I can prove to people and myself that I am deserving and I was right to be there. That's all I can do now. My self-confidence vanished just like that. I think I'm just being too paranoid. Hahahaha... Good luck nalang sakin!!!!! Ahehehe... Abd I'd also like to thank all my friends who stood up for me kahit nagkalat na ko at lahat. Tsaka sa lahat ng tulong niyo sa tono ko sa mukha ko and for being true to me. salamat po!!! Love you all!!!

Clock's still Waiting
I hold with bare hands a blue pen
I have a piece of paper that was there just then
The clock's waiting for an unforgetable scene
Of love and hope that was meant to be a dream.
I was there with blurred thoughts, a dashing light,
I was there with a story that never came off mind.
The clock's still waiting for an unforgetable scene
Of freedom and peace that was meant to be a dream.
I witnessed the reality, a harsh sight,

Success!!!
I thought I would never be abe to post here again!!! hah! maybe our pcs the one broken.... I mean... duh! it was asking me to log in to a google account and when I ried it here it actually works... I really miss posting here... hahaha... well, I'm at my uncle's house at alabang... my ama's sick and I'm really worried... I cannot think of the thiings that might happen if something bad actually happens... huhu... I'l pray for her so hard... I love u ama!
